Adding a Trial Serial Number Post-Software Installation

Overview

Sometimes, users need to activate a trial license after previously using the software with a different license type. Traditional desktop trial licenses require an additional driver that is not included when installing the software as an Individual (PS key), Network, or Named User license.

This guide explains how to install the necessary drivers using two methods: the installation user interface (UI) or the Command Prompt. Both approaches are demonstrated below.

All examples in this article use OLI Studio version 12.0.0.11.

Using the Software Installation UI

If you no longer have the OLI Studio installation file, you can find it on our Downloads Page using your current serial number or the provided trial serial number.

  1. Once the installer is downloaded, right-click and select Run as administrator. If prompted for a username and password, please contact your IT support personnel.

  3. On the second screen, click Modify

  4. Here, enter the provided trial serial number. This will direct the software to install the additional driver.

Now, you can open OLI Studio and continue using the software with a trial license.

Using the Command Prompt

Adding a trial serial number post-installation can also be done through the command prompt. Instead of performing a modified install, we will uninstall and reinstall the software using two commands:

"OLI Studio 12.0.0.11.exe" /qn /uninstall

This command silently uninstalls OLI Studio, displaying no UI.

"OLI Studio 12.0.0.11.exe" /qn SERIALNUMBER=V2-TTTT-RRRR-IIII-AAAA-LLLL-1111

This command silently reinstalls OLI Studio, displaying no UI while including the special trial-specific softkey.

Now, you can open OLI Studio and continue using the software with a trial license.

Conclusion

While OLI software supports multiple license types, transitioning to a trial license requires the inclusion of a specialized driver not installed by default in standard configurations. The two methods above, UI-based modification or command-line installation, ensure the correct setup for users evaluating OLI software.
