  2. Generate Softkey Data
  3. Wait for Softkey to Be Sent by OLI
  4. Activate Softkey

2. Generate Softkey Data

OLI Software is protected using a digital softkey, which you can think of as a unique password stored in a file.

When you open any OLI application for the first time, you will not have a softkey, so you will be presented with the following Security Error window.

In the following steps, you will generate your softkey data which is stored in an OLI *.C2V file that will be automatically sent to OLI. We will process the data and send back your softkey file in an email.

In the OLI Security Error window, click on the Protection Key Tools tab.

Then, click the Collect Information button. This generates your softkey data and then prompts you to choose a location to save the output .c2v file.

As soon as you press Save, a dialogue box will appear that says, “Directly send the OLIc2v file to OLI Systems?” Click Yes.

3. Wait for Softkey to Be Sent by OLI

That’s all for now on your end! We will process your softkey data and return your softkey file (.OLIv2c) promptly, usually within 24 hours.

4. Activate Softkey

Once you receive your .OLIv2c file from OLI, save it to a memorable location.

Reopen your OLI software. In the OLI Security Error window, go back to the Protection Key Tools. This time, click Apply Update, and in the file explorer window, search for and select to open your .OLIv2c file.

8 - Apply Update with v2c file - edited.jpeg

If successful, you will see a dialog box that says, “The protection key was installed/updated successfully.”

Now, open an OLI application. If you see the splash screen, your installation/activation was successful.
