Introduction to OLI Flowsheet: ESP for First-Time Users

Objective

This article provides an introduction to the OLI Flowsheet: ESP user interface and demonstrates basic calculations to highlight the software’s capabilities.

Disclaimer: The interface, calculations, and results shown are based on OLI Flowsheet: ESP 12.0.0. Other software versions may differ due to ongoing updates and improvements to the software and its thermodynamic databanks.

Overview of Getting Started (User Interface)

Below is a screenshot of OLI Flowsheet: ESP in use:

This guide offers a brief tour of the user interface.

Navigator Pane

The Navigator pane displays objects, such as Streams and Unit Operation Blocks, added to your simulation.

Library

The Library contains all supported unit operations in OLI Flowsheet: ESP. You can add these blocks to the flowsheet by dragging and dropping them into the workspace next to the Navigator pane. Or you can simply double-click the block to add it to the flowsheet space.

Properties

The Properties pane allows you to define the components of your flowsheet, where you can specify parameters for streams and unit operations.

Toolbar

The toolbar provides quick access to essential tools within the software, enhancing user productivity.
