The Flowsheet: ESP Case Library – Templates to Model Your System

Objective

In this article, we will explain how to access the Flowsheet: ESP Case Library and the types of industry examples available through this feature.

Disclaimer: The user interface, calculations, and results displayed in this article are from OLI Flowsheet: ESP Version 12.0.0. Other software versions may appear different or present slightly distinct results due to continual developments to the software and thermodynamic databanks.

What is the Flowsheet: ESP Case Library?

The Case Library equips users with a collection of industry process models created by OLI experts within the Flowsheet: ESP environment. These files serve as templates for modeling different systems, which you can customize to fit your unique processes.

How do I access and use the Case Library?

The Case Library is automatically downloaded with the “Typical” installation of Flowsheet: ESP. If you do not see the Case Library after following the steps below, please uninstall the Flowsheet: ESP application and reinstall it from downloads.olisystems.com. During installation, please choose the “Typical” install option.

  1. Open Flowsheet: ESP and navigate to the Menu Bar > File > Case Library. This opens a window displaying a list of application areas and industries, such as carbon capture/storage, desalination, cooling towers, flue gas scrubbing, scale prediction, rare earth extraction (REE) processing, boiler feed water, lithium production, and more.
  2. Select an application to view available case files.
  3. Click on an example of interest. A window will appear with a detailed overview of the case file, including constraints, relevant chemistry, and associated verticals.
  4. Click “Launch” to open the file.
    • You can then edit and build upon the existing case file, and save it as a new file locally.

Conclusion

With the Flowsheet: ESP Case Library, you have access to a wealth of resources from OLI to support innovative and accurate simulations. Take advantage of these templates to enhance your process modeling and achieve better results.
