Transferring a Softkey

In the event that you move to a new computer, or your individual OLI license is transferred to another employee within your organization, you can transfer your digital softkey without the intervention of OLI.

You can proceed with transferring a softkey after the software has been downloaded and installed on the new computer.

Note: This is the same process for transferring Network Server softkeys

Before proceeding further, make sure that no OLI software is running on either machine during the transfer process.

This process is done in 3 parts:

  1. Creating a softkey "capture" file (*.OLIrid) on the new computer.
  2. Generating a "captured" softkey file (*.OLIh2h) on the old computer.
  3. Transferring the "captured" softkey file and applying it to the new computer.

Part 1 (On the new computer) Generating a softkey capture file

Open the Windows start menu and search for the "OLI License Key Utility" application.
