Locating Softkeys on Your Network

Table of Contents

Overview

In certain situations, such as after migrating systems or rebuilding a virtual machine, your OLI license softkey may no longer be readily accessible. To assist with licensing continuity, OLI may request that you locate the Sentinel Softkey currently installed on your network. Fortunately, Sentinel provides a built-in utility that enables users to identify and review installed keys across the local network. This article outlines the recommended steps to locate your Sentinel Softkey and confirm its status.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Access the Local Licensing Utility

Begin on the machine where the softkey was originally installed. Open a web browser and enter the following address:

The IP address 127.0.0.1 corresponds to your local computer (localhost), while port 1947 is used by the Sentinel License Manager utility. This page should be accessible if the key and its associated services are properly installed.

  2. Confirm Utility Availability

    • If the page does not load: This typically indicates that the softkey services were not installed or are not currently running on this machine.
    • If the page loads successfully: Proceed to the next step.
  3. View Active Sentinel Keys

On the left-hand navigation panel of the Sentinel Admin Control Center, click “Sentinel Keys.”
This page will display all Sentinel (formerly Gemalto) keys currently visible on the local network, along with details about the host computer associated with each key.

    • OLI Systems' Vendor ID: 112737

  4. Check Key Status

Within the displayed list, locate your OLI key. If the key is marked as "Rehostable," it means the license is eligible for transfer to another machine. This is especially useful when migrating licenses between systems.

  5. Documentation for Support

If OLI Support has requested information about your softkey, please capture screenshots of:

    • The Sentinel Keys page
    • Any visible OLI-related license details (including rehostable status)

These images will help expedite license troubleshooting and support resolution.

Conclusion

OLI relies on Sentinel Softkeys to deliver reliable and secure license management for our software offerings. When system changes impact key visibility, the Sentinel License Manager provides a straightforward method to locate and verify your license on the network. Following the steps above ensures our support team can assist you promptly and maintain uninterrupted access to your OLI software environment.
