Objective
This article describes how to use the OLI Engine in AVEVA™ PRO/II™ and to perform a simple calculation. This demonstration will show you how to build a model in the OLI Chemistry Wizard for PRO/II for a solution of H₂O and NaCl.
The demonstration will also show you how the initial import into AVEVA PRO/II is created, and finally, the demonstration will show you how to run the software.
Disclaimer
This article was created using the OLI Engine for PRO/II version 12.0.0.11. The AVEVA PRO/II version 2023.1.
(Please Note: There is an update to PRO/II for version 2023. You must use the patch 2023.1 or later to properly use OLI Electrolytes. Earlier versions are unaffected).
Caveat Emptor
This demonstration is not designed to teach you how to use AVEVA PRO/II. There are many sources in the wild, both from AVEVA and from many higher education institutions, which better describe how to use the AVEVA PRO/II product.
This demonstration focuses solely on the OLI integration into AVEVA.
The OLI Chemistry Wizard
The OLI Chemistry Wizard uses our existing technology to create the OLI thermodynamics. You can get an overview of the OLI Chemistry Wizard here:
Introduction to OLI Chemistry Wizard for First-Time Users
This Demonstration will show you an OLI Chemistry Wizard example specific to this demonstration.
Using the OLI Engine for AVEVAᵀᴹ PRO/IIᵀᴹ
This video will show you a quick example of using the OLI Engine inside of AVEVA PRO/II
After you have imported the OLI DBS file into AVEVA PRO/II, you are all set to create your flowsheets.
Conclusion
By following this guide, you have learned how to integrate the OLI Engine with AVEVA™ PRO/II™ and perform a basic calculation using the OLI Chemistry Wizard. This process enables accurate thermodynamic modeling of electrolyte solutions, such as H₂O and NaCl, within PRO/II.
While this demonstration provides a foundational understanding of OLI’s integration into AVEVA PRO/II, mastering the full capabilities of PRO/II requires additional training and resources. If you need further assistance, refer to AVEVA’s official documentation or OLI’s support resources.
We hope this tutorial has been helpful in getting you started with the OLI Engine in AVEVA PRO/II. Happy modeling! 🚀
